PIPE FLOCCULATOR
Krofta DAF systems do not require a pipe flocculator, we use in-line dosing of chemicals for our DAF units and have been doing so for the past 40 years, with great success and high removal efficiencies.
However, to meet specific client requirements, we do design and manufacture pipe flocculators.
The Krofta Pipe Flocculator (KPFL) is a plug flow reactor in which processes such as coagulation, flocculation, pH control, precipitation and demulsification take place in highly controlled conditions. The mixing energy for flocculation is obtained by the turbulence created in the mixing pipes, this process takes place under turbulent flow.
The coagulant is dosed at the raw water inlet point and the flocculant is dosed at the second chemical injection point for creating bigger flocs at the outlet. The mixing pipes ensure the instantaneous and continuous mixing of the chemicals in the raw water.
Advantages:
Design Efficiency
Highly compact and efficient unit with no moving parts.
Energy Integration
No additional energy requirement when installed with a DAF unit.
Power Independence
Zero external electricity requirement for standard operations.
Material Options
Can be flexibly manufactured in Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, or High-Density Polyethylene.
Process Control
Equipped with capacity for up to 4 sampling and 4 dosing points for precise chemical control.
flash mixer
The flash (or rapid) mixing and coagulation stages consist in adding chemicals to raw water to foster coagulation while attracting particles that doesn’t settle or cannot be filtered. Coagulants, such as ferric chloride (FeCl3), PAC (poly aluminium chloride Al2Cl(OH)5), aluminium sulphate (Al2(SO4)3), attract these particles, so it will be easier to agglomerate them during flocculation.
Velocity Gradient (G) for flash mixer is = 400-1000 s-1
The duration of the flash mixing and coagulation stages determines the quality of the whole process. For example, a short retention time won’t allow the homogeneous distribution of the chemicals within the basin, making the reaction unsuccessful. Therefore, the residence and contact time must be calculated accurately, considering the main parameters, such as the basin’s volume and the water’s flow rate.
Vertical agitators are the only solution possible at this stage (as well as during the flocculation stage) as they cannot be combined with other agitation solutions like submersible mixers. Our vertical agitators are efficient during the flash mixing and coagulation stages as they quickly and thoroughly agitate the chemicals in raw water before releasing them into the flocculation chamber. Our high-efficiency impellers are designed for the flash mixing and coagulation stages: These impellers help ensure optimal rapid mixing and coagulation, thanks to their high hydrodynamic profile that generates a high flow rate, thus ensuring minimum energy consumption.
Advantages:
Rapid Coagulation
Fosters rapid chemical distribution to instantly destabilize non-settleable suspended particles.
Velocity Gradient
Maintains intense mixing energy with optimized G-values ranging from 400 to 1000 s⁻¹.
Vertical Agitators
Uses dedicated top-entry vertical agitators engineered specifically for coagulation basins.
Calculated Retention
Precision-engineered residence time based on flow rate and volume for optimal contact time.
High-Efficiency Impellers
Hydrodynamic impeller profiles deliver maximum pumping flow rate with minimal power consumption.
